About Early Learning Pod

The Early Learning Pod program offers a wholesome group learning experience for 5-7 year olds. Forest School techniques are used to build confidence and understanding of our natural world. Children are guided through the day using a holistic rhythm that appeals to their natural senses and needs.

Rhythm of the Day

Morning Mingle- Time to settle in, say hello and begin the busy work of play.

Circle Time- A focused time with friends and teachers. A song, fingerplay and poem are shared, followed by show and tell and other engaging games.

Lunch- Social time to eat lunch with friends. Eating outside most days, is a great way to relax and bond in a beautiful nature setting.

Free Play- Nature-based free play encourages creativity, supports physical development, and strengthens social skills, while helping children connect with the world around them.

Handwork- Children explore a variety of fiber arts, including finger knitting, simple knitting and crochet, sewing, embroidery and feltwork. Art experiences such as wet-on-wet watercolor painting, beeswax and clay modeling develop patience, coordination and confidence through each project. Extended fiber projects develop perseverance, ownership and a deep appreciation for the process of creating with their hands.

Daily Lesson- Themed group lessons that are always hands on, engaging and never shallow. Lessons incorporate activities that are often overlooked in Early Childhood Education, with focus on sensory-rich projects, social/emotional learning, storytelling, scissor skills, paper folding, heavy work, crossing the mid-line, modeling with various mediums and group collaboration.

Nature Exploration- Gently guided group nature walks and playful creek adventures. Children have the opportunity to observe plants, animals and changing seasons while engaging all of their senses. These experiences build connection, curiosity, and confidence.
